— The Phoenix Way: Impact Hub Bradford.

Background

The Phoenix Way is an exciting, national collaborative partnership created during the Covid-19 pandemic as a response to the structural inequalities which Black and racially minoritised communities and community-led organisations face in relation to influencing and accessing grant funding in the UK.

The Phoenix Fund was launched in 2020 with the aim to put racial justice at the heart of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund was devised and led by Black and racially minoritised community group leaders from across England and established with the support of The National Lottery Community Fund, Global Fund for Children and led by The Ubele Initiative.

Our goals

“The Phoenix Way seeks to ensure that no community is left behind”

Impact Hub Bradford are pleased to be the delivery development partner for The Phoenix Way for Yorkshire and Humber (TPWYH).

The Phoenix Way is an exciting, national collaborative partnership created during the Covid-19 pandemic as a response to the structural inequalities which Black and racially minoritised communities and community-led organisations face in relation to influencing and accessing grant funding in the UK.

The programme aims to –

Strengthen regional Black and racially minoritised VCSE organisations capacity and increase access to funding by facilitating workshops, training and by providing one to one support.

To research and work with Black and racially minoritised communities through community group sessions to identify priorities, areas of need and inform inclusive design of funding schemes and processes.

Engage with local communities across the district to establish community grant-making panels in the target areas across our region.

Increase visibility and collaboration by undertaking mapping of Black and racially minoritised VCSE organisations across our region.

To raise awareness  of the unique challenges facing Black and racially minoritised communities across the UK and to support funders so they are more able to respond to structural inequalities and embed equity, equality and inclusion into processes and systems.
