In January 2019, we brought world-renowned brand TEDx to Bradford – delivering a sold-out and nationally trending event at the Science & Media Museum!
What is TEDx?
TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx brings the spirit of TED to local communities around the globe through TEDx events. In hosting TEDx Bradford, our goal was to share ideas and spark conversation in our district.
Why Bradford?
Bradford has long been a lab for social innovation – from the formation of the Independent Labour Party and Titus Salt’s worker’s village in the 1800s, to William Forster’s work on the first national education legislation, the first schools to offer free meals to children and the first UNESCO City Of Film. With waves of Irish, German, South Asian and Eastern European immigration, the city has continued to be a place where a diversity of minds experiment with progressive ideas, to tackle social issues.
TEDx Bradford
The 2019 edition of TEDxBradford was curated around a theme of Radically Social ideas, with lineup of twenty speakers discussing everything from place and identity, to technology, creativity and community. Along with an audience of over three hundred attendees, these speakers brought together people around discussions of ideas, projects and communities that are tackling the systemic social and environmental issues of today.
